Decorate - Country and Traditional Tips
300 Great Decorating Ideas
Decorate your home with the beauty of the country. Why decorate in traditional country style? A day in the country is worth a year in the city! Nature's beauty and color balance refresh and renew the heart and mind. Every season offers its own unique colors to inspire artists and designers around the world. A trip to the country will help you unwind and let go of the stress in your life. Country life is based on the values of good neighbors, good character, a handshake agreement, dignity of human life, love of country, fair value, family life, good quality materials, healthy food, fresh air, clean water, tilling the land, planting seeds and letting go to allow nature to produce the fruits of your labors. Seeds won’t grow when you hold them in your hand. In the night sky, the moon, the planets, the stars, their beauty, their mystery, and their order, God reveals His greatness and His power.
The beauty of the earth's changing seasons from seedtime to harvest always brings you back to the creation and planting for the future. Everyone plants and everyone harvests even when they don’t see they are planting into the field of the world. In the spring the flowers are the promise of the coming harvest, they are pollinated and mature into seeds for the future. Revisit the country and bring the country back home to renew you. Flowers in the garden, dried flowers in a basket or a wreath, a floral print fabric, a photograph of wildflowers or a beautiful scenic, remind you of spring, a new start, a new day to plant again, and the fruits of your labors yet to come. Flowers are not just beautiful, they speak a language of great promise, the promise of the fruits of the harvest. Flowers live a beautiful and wondrous life, and in their death they produce seeds and fruit, food for both mankind and animals. Flowers speak of the continuity and cycle of life. A flower is a promise of nourishment, renewal and new life.
In the country every day is a new start. The earth is always available to receive the seeds of new life. When you aren’t sure which path to take, the choice becomes easier when you look for the field where you can plant seeds of good will. Nature illustrates the beauty and simple lessons of life - seedtime and harvest. Plant for the harvest you want to receive and leave something good behind for those who come after you. Planting and harvesting works the same for everyone, everyday, regardless of your station in life. The autumn of your life will bring the fulfillment and harvest of a life of doing good. A seed planted in the earth will die and miraculously spring forth to a new life. All farmers know that if you plant peaches, you will have peach blossoms in the spring, and you will pick peaches. Tradtional and Country Decorating for your home and garden. Here are over 300 beautiful accessory suggestions that will add natural country charm and the create the best offices, homes and gardens without spending a lot of money.
What is on your walls? The difference between the "before and after" pictures in the decorating magazines usually come from two main improvements. One is the color scheme and the other is the wall decor. A room is not balanced and does not look finished until the colors and the wall decor are "right". Unfinished or bare walls often look depressing. Too many, too few or clashing colors can appear agitating or just boring. You can use something very inexpensive to get a "decorator" look - as long as it has "charm".
Color should be flattering to the home owner and "pleasant" to view. Wall decor always looks complete when the colors coordinate between the art and the furniture - prints of photography or paintings are perfect. They can be changed with seasons and add a whole new look to the room in a matter of minutes. We recommend conservative colors for furniture. A wide variety of color accents can be achieved with accessories, such as pillows, rugs, vases, and photographic or painted art. Frames can be spray painted to match the color scheme of the decor for a "coordinated and finished" look. Glass vases can be painted with glass paint from an art store. Frames purchased at the dollar store are a small investment and can be perfectly matched, and even repainted several times.
The fewer colors you use in a room the more effective and polished will be the look. One dominant color will "settle" the room. A second color will be the main accent color and a third color used very sparingly can be the icing on the cake.
As an example, you might like your furniture in a dark denim blue, with a deep burgundy hooked rug and throw pillows, in red and white. In the spring you can change your pillows to yellow and add a golden brown hooked rug. Bring in some daffodils from the yard and you have a brand new decor. Your accent colors can be changed frequently just by changing your accessories, such as throw pillows. A similiar effect can be captured with rich burgundy or hunter green furniture and a navy blue hooked rug. Sheer light drapes that blend with the wall color are a safe choice and allow more freedom to decorate with accent colors.
If your furniture has a colorful and multicolored pattern, you should be more conservative with your choice of color accents. Your accessories should blend with the colors in the furniture pattern. The human eye blends patterns into an average color which may not even be in the pattern. Watch for the surprise new color. For example a red and white stripe will often result in the visual appearance to the eye of the "old rose" or "pink". A green and blue check will often produce a visual average of "teal", "turquoise" or "pine green". A burgundy, beige and gold pattern can appear to be "brown" to the eye. A burgundy, brown and slate blue will often appear "purple". The "new color" should be considered when adding accents.
You can use frames from the dollar store, painted to match your decor, and pictures from magazines or calendars and achieve artistic style. Painting the walls can be a work of art or a long-term disappointment. Walls are best enjoyed in a pale neutral color such as light beige or light gray. A daring adventure in color walls would be best done by painting just one wall. You can get an interesting effect, and one wall is usually enough, usually the wall behind the sofa. If you don't like it, you only have to repaint one wall. Color can be added effectively with throw rugs and throw pillows. The main benefit is that they can easily be changed, giving the room a make-over in seconds.
If you harmonize the colors, and add some inspirational subject matter to your walls, you have a room that you will always enjoy entering. Nature is one of the most inspirational subjects for art. Nature speaks of higher values and priorities associated with America, freedom and attaining the American dream. Nature subjects are inspiring, encouraging and cheerful. The flowers in the art on your walls are just as uplifting as flowers in your garden. The subject matter in art conveys an unspoken message. There is more on unspoken messages later in the article.
Art comes in many forms - photography, paintings, child's fingerpainting, pastels, watercolors, sculptures, vases, crystal, ceramic, stoneware, woodcarvings, posters, jewelry, memorabilia, etc. Decide what you like, start collecting, and you will find the pieces you are drawn to will complement each other in color, subject and style. Look for unusual cupboards and shelves to display your collections. Don't think about their investment potential, a collection is worth more than the individual pieces. You could end up with a valuable collection with only a minimal investment. Hand-crafted, hand-painted, hand-sculptured, hand-printed - created one by one - they have huge potential as collectors items.
Traditional Country Decorating
Country style accessories can be found outdoors almost anywhere, especially at yard sales. A coat of paint on wood furniture will beautify and update older pieces of furniture. Furniture colors should blend with your decor. The best home, office and garden country accessories may be found by visiting farm markets, orchards, and feed stores. Many may also be found searching the web, look for "Americana" and "Primitive" accessories.
Warm, comfortable and unpretentious - American antiques take you back to our early country roots, but you don't have to pay those high prices to get that country beauty.
Arranging your accessories in a casual, almost accidental manner, in color groups, is more attractive than a formal, rigidly balanced format. Not everything you own has to be displayed at one time. Allow some wall space to balance your collection.

Color Changes Everything
Color speaks more than a thousand words.Blue is serene and tranquil.Red is exuberant and shouts.Yellow is cheerful and sunny.Green is harmonious and unifying.White is sophisticated.Grey is dignified and professional.Black alone is depressing.Your color scheme will set the tone of your home or office. You will combine the primary colors with white and black to create the color decorating combinations you like.
The most pleasing color schemes - the ones you will see the in decorating magazines - are based on different shades of one dominant color, usually in the walls, fabrics and accessories.
Consider color first for whatever you buy, you will end up with a coordinated look.
Red and green are opposites on the color wheel, and used conservatively are very artistic - such as burgundy and hunter green or speermint and old rose.
Blue and orange are opposites also. Navy blue or sky blue with peach or gold can be luxuriously beautiful.
Violet and yellow are opposites - mauve, lavender and purple come to life when highlighted with a vase and floral accents of pale yellow or brass lamps.

Country life represents the best of America. Doing good produces a good harvest, regardless of who you are or how humble your beginnings. In the field of the world, everyone plants and harvests together as equals. The laws of nature are true for everyone. Plant a peach seed and a peach tree will grow that will continue to produce peaches and more peach seeds into eternity that will feed many others. There is a time to sow and a time to reap. Ambitions, goals and dreams are focused on leaving something of value behind when you are gone for those that come after you.

and give You glory.
Oh God, Creator of Heaven and Earth,

Give us Wisdom
